This course examines several areas of Human Resources Strategy and Personnel Management, and includes an overview of Human
Resources and its purpose and role in the mutual insurance company structure. By the end of this course, you should be
able to:
- Describe various metrics for measuring HR success
- Define organizational structure
- Understand job descriptions
- Understand the purpose of policy manuals and manual components
- Define the employee life cycle and discuss best practices for each phase
- Explain the importance of employee performance reviews and the available methods for delivering them
- Understand the importance of succession planning for management and staff
This course will cover ethics and the law as it relates to your role as a company manager or leader. By the end of this course,
you should be able to:
- Distinguish the difference between laws, morals and value, and how these relate to ethics
- Understand the process for ethical decision-making
- Gain insight into ethical expectations from regulators and board members
- Learn about legal substance and procedure
- Review the privacy act and confidentiality agreements
- Understand how to be compliant with state and federal insurance regulations
- Gain information on Whistleblower legislations (CA and US)
- Recognize conflicts of interest (manager/agent and director)

This course examines the areas of Management and Leadership Principles that focus on strategic planning. By the end of this
course, you should be able to:
- Define strategic planning
- Learn how to develop and write a company mission statement
- Understand the principles associated with strategic planning
- Develop and write a company mission statement
- Understand the relationship between the mission statement and planning purpose
- Identify the key metrics used to measure successful implementation of a strategic plan
- Understand the strategic planning process and who should be involved
- Know what should be included in a one-, three-, and five-year business/strategic plan
- Know who should be responsible for implementing the plan and monitoring progress
- Determine the appropriate means of reporting the progress to the directors, management and staff
- Understand the importance and involvement of staff in the strategic process in relation to underwriting, claims,
marketing, and technology department goals and guidelines
- Know how to use benchmarking as a strategic planning tool
- Operating ratios and their relevance
This course is designed to help you increase your marketing knowledge to better align marketing goals and activities with
company goals. By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Understand the purpose of a marketing mission statement
- Create a marketing mission statement
- Develop a marketing plan
- Evaluate and develop target markets for the company
- Understand changing consumer and buying habits
- Identify digital media and social media marketing opportunities
- Determine the image the company wants to establish with agents and policyholders and tie it to the marketing/branding
campaign
- Recognize the importance of branding the niche market of the company to agents and policyholders
- Deliver/advertise the marketing/branding mission and plan to the agents and policyholders
- Understand the importance of developing a diverse product line and competitive rating structure for all products
and services of the company

How It Works
Credit for the PFMM Virtual module is received based on completing the entire module, and will be earned by completing a
combination of online learning modules and supplemental webinars. Final credit will be given once all quiz/evaluation
answers have been submitted. Coursework is estimated at five hours in length based on individual pace and includes:
